Some school holiday updates..... 10.4.8 update for OS X servers
and desktop computers, as well as a swathe of minor updates for the iLife suite.

- iWeb for Intranet Workshops

On Monday and Tuesday this week we ran two pilot workshops to explore the possibilities of using iWeb for our school intranets. View the work of the participants from each school, and browse the associated examples, tutorials and quickstart documents. (DET Intranet access required to view teachers' sites).

- Student Reports - No Change in NSWTF Position

"Federation has consistently maintained that the federal and state governments' reporting requirements are educationally unsound. The further round of changes announced in the Director-General's memorandum of 26 September 2006 does not remove those unsound requirements." (NSWTF)

- Student Reports - New Format

Schools will now have a choice of using A to E grades or an equivalent five-band scale, which describes achievement levels as outstanding, high, sound, basic or limited. (SMH)
Kid Pix 3X - v1.1 Universal Update

Play Kid Pix 3X projects on an iPod, import to KP from Garageband, create flipbook animations using the new 0.1 sec per slide option, a new continuous loop option for slide shows, and saving KP documents as templates are just a few of the new features provided by this free update to Kid Pix 3X.

- Reporting System Fails the Grade (SMH)

"The State Government, which faces growing opposition from teachers and principals to compulsory grading, was dealt a further blow yesterday when the Commonwealth rejected its plan to exempt Year 1 and 2 students from the reporting system, for subjects other than Maths and English."
