New Student Report Cards Dispute in Court
(Tuesday 28th February 2006)
Today, the dispute between the State Government and the NSWTF over student report cards was before the NSW Industrial Relations Commission. The parties will have further discussions on Thursday and Friday, before another hearing set down for Wednesday 8th March.

NSWTF Opposes New Student Reports

The NSWTF has advised members that schools should continue to use their own reporting system and ignore the DET's memorandum of 9 February 2006. According to the NSWTF, many of the reporting requirements being proposed are professionally and educationally unacceptable.

SeaMonkey 1.0 Released

Mozilla.org now appears to be focussing on the development of Firefox and Thunderbird. Schools using Mozilla Composer should check out the Sea Monkey project.

Term 1 ICT Co-ordinator Meetings

Our Term 1 ICT Co-ordinator meetings will be held on Tuesday 7th March (Kiama PS) and Wednesday 8th March (Exeter PS). The two main topics on the agenda will be discussion about the new Secure Internet rollout and a demo of the latest SENTRAL server, including Easy School Reports. Details have been e-mailed to all local schools - please RSVP if you will be attending.

Hidden Info in the Mac OS X Login Window

You can quickly find information about (among other things) Software version, serial number, IP address and Network availability, by clicking on the name of the computer in the Tiger login window.

Mac OSX 10.4.5 Update

The usual variety of fixes and tweaks for both server and client. Hopefully may address the server/client managed login/logout issues. Available also via Software Update.

NSWTF Advice to Schools re SIBE

The NSWTF advises that the introduction of the Secure Internet Browsing and Email service has important implications for all teachers. Their advice is provided to assist members to make informed decisions about the use of this service. See also related DET information, which includes an Information sheet for parents.

Student COGs e-Portfolios on Your OSX Intranet (pdf)

Federal Grants to Schools

Secure Internet Browsing and E-mail (.doc - Intranet access required)
