Setup SUS (Win)

Windows Software Update Services (SUS) provides automatic updates for Windows software patches, which will prevent worms such as sasser, welchia, blaster, etc from installing on your school's computers. You can setup your own SUS server, or access a central DET server automatically.

Sasser Suspect Arrested

An 18-year-old German student arrested over the Sasser virus is also suspected of creating the more virulent Netsky virus. (Sydney Morning Herald report).

McAfee Stinger Utility (Win)

Computer Equipment: Turning It Off versus Leaving It On

This document discusses whether or not you should leave computer equipment powered on, or turn it off, when it is not in use. The article suggests you should turn off equipment if it is going to be idle for eight hours or more. (Although posted on the Apple website this article is probably relevant to all platforms).
