For those still battling with the dinosaur (!) this Netscape update (based on Mozilla) claims to deliver enhanced performance and stability, tabbed windows, along with integrated email and AOL messenger facilities. Microsoft Spyware Information (Win) (Friday 20th August 2004) There's no such thing as a free lunch - this is as true on the Internet as anywhere else. If you download and install "free" screensavers, etc, you are risking infiltration by Spyware and Adware. Especially if you use Windows and IE6! Use SpyBot to remove and prevent spyware, and FireFox browser to combat popups! ASTD 2004 (Wednesday 18th August 2004) Bigger and better than ever - the annual Apple School Technology Day offers participants a wide range of workshops supporting the use of technology in schools. Register on-line before 14th September. Mac OS X 10.3.5 Update (Tuesday 10th August 2004) The usual range of updates and compatibility fixes, but most notably this updater "improves reliability for user logins and mounting of home directories in a networked environment". Technology in Primary Schools (Wednesday 4th August 2004) The Kids' Design Challenge is a pilot program providing a unique opportunity for Stage 2 students (yrs 3 and 4) to participate in a real-life design task of importance to the community. Office 2003 SP1 Released (Win) (Wednesday 4th August 2004) Office 2003 Service Pack 1 contains significant security stability and performance improvements. CutePDF Writer (Win) (Monday 2nd August 2004) CutePDF Writer is installed as a "printer subsystem". This enables Windows applications to easily create PDF documents - just choose CutePDF from the Print dialogue box. Free.
