GProxy Library Module

Access library enquiry searches from Internet Explorer/Netscape from within Windows or Mac OS. GProxy updates data from OASIS automatically every day. Fully hyperlinked so that users can browse from title to author, jump to an associated subject and click on an included URL to browse immediately to the Internet.

Year 6 CSA Test On-line

While the on-line CSA option is still being piloted, last year's written Computer Skills Assessment test has been posted on-line at this site.

The NSW DET proposed staff/student e-mail accounts will undergo an "educational impact statement" to monitor use in 50 schools before any further rollout of the program, which is ultimately intended to involve 1.3 million students and 130,000 teachers.

Mac OS X 10.2.4 Update

Apple claims this update provides "enhanced functionality and improved reliability" for Address Book, Classic compatibility, Finder, FireWire, Graphics, OpenGL, and Sherlock. Includes AFP and Windows file service improvements, as well as audio, disc recording, graphics, and printing improvements.

Final Cut Express - Seminar for Illawarra Schools (30k pdf)

Outgrown iMovie? Final Cut Pro too complicated, or too expensive? Final Cut Express is Apple's latest "mid-range" video editing software, which will be previewed at a special Education presentation at Port Kembla Golf Club on Wednesday 26th February, from 4pm - 6pm. Changes to DET Fixed Proxy Address (DET Intranet Access required)

The DET's "fixed proxy", used as the "upstream" proxy for local proxy servers, and on iMacs using Internet Explorer, has changed to wcom.schools.nsw.edu.au, on port 8080 (formerly proxyds.schools.nsw.edu.au, which still seems to be working, though the new proxy seems to be a bit faster).

Netscape 7.01 for Mac OS X Web Publishing

Netscape 7 runs natively in Mac OS X and provide an editing environment which may solve some of the problems faced by Mac schools migrating from OS 9, who are currently using Claris Home Page in the Classic environment. Netscape is free.

Wazza's Digital Photo and Video Links

Download iMovie 3 and iPhoto 2

The recently announced updates from Apple, iMovie 3 and iPhoto 2, are now available for download. iMovie 3 now includes "chapters" for producing DVD's, while iPhoto includes additional basic editing features and a CD/DVD burn button.
