to: Speed-up Firefox (Monday 11th April
2005) As if the FireFox browser wasn't fast enough already, you can tweak the "under-the-hood" configuration settings to send multiple requests for page data, if you have a broadband connection.
1.Type about:config into the address bar and hit return:
- network.http.pipelining
-
network.http.proxy.pipelining
- network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.
When you enable pipelining (see below) the browser will make several requests at once, which can speed up page loading.
2. Alter the above entries as follows:
- Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true.
- Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to a number like 30.
(Right-click [PC] or Control-click [Mac] to alter the setting).
This means that FireFox will now make 30 requests at once.
