Web Publishing - Using 'Feeds' |
|
|
- Really Simple Syndication (RSS)
- An RSS news reader, also known as an "aggregator", is software that you use to connect to news "streams" (also known as RSS news "feeds") from a variety of news sources, thus "aggregating" news and information of interest to you in one convenient location.
You can read RSS news using software that is installed on your computer, or through a web-based service that is accessible from any computer connected to the Internet.
Click on the RSS Info icon on the right for some more information about RSS News, including an introductory video, and links to software for reading and publishing your own RSS feeds.

- Twitter
- Although not originally designed for this purpose, Twitter can also be used as something of a news "aggregator". Twitter is easily accessible using mobile devices, so is more likely to be used for "instant-what-is-happening-now" news. Great for travellers.
Again there are various options for accessing Twitter feeds - from dedicated software installed on your computer or phone, web-based software, and embedded feeds in blogs and regular web sites.
Click on the Twitter Info icon on the right to read some more information about publishing your own Twitter feeds. Also links to introductory videos, and links to software for reading and publishing your own Twitter feeds.
