A sound ICT infrastructure is an essential foundation of a successful learning environment.
For the purposes of this discussion, the term infrastructure refers to your school's computers, the network cabling and associated hardware that connects the computers to each other and to the Internet, and the application software that is used on this hardware.
School infrastructure development and implementation should be considered in conjunction with the needs of the school learning environment.

Too often commercial providers are contracted to setup a school's ICT infrastructure, with the end result being that the final product best suits an administrative corporate environment (that fulfils the contractor's support needs), rather than an engaging learning environment.
The table below is inspired by a slide that I saw in a presentation somewhere - my apologies for not being able to qualify with the appropriate acknowledgement - it provides a useful comparison between the two environments....
