With all the current speculation about public schools around the world considering the use of low-cost "mini laptops" to provide cheap 1:1 access for senior students, (and possibly other classroom/administrative environments) here is a collection of some of the current commercial offerings of similar "Netbook" products.
Most of the computers listed below are available with either an open-source or a commercial OS pre- installed.

- Probably the best-known product available locally. Currently stocked at major retailers.

- Classmate PC

- Dell Inspiron Mini 9
- Full-featured netbook - available with Ubuntu or Win XP installed.
|
|
|
|
- Elite G10IL
- Has won some industry awards, and includes a 9" screen on the base model.

- Elonex ONE
- The vision of the ONE project by Elonex is for every child in the UK to have their own laptop. The ONE is an ultra-portable laptop that gives wireless access to Internet, eMail, word processing, spreadsheets, and MP3s.

- Everex Cloudbook
- Based on the gOS operating system, the Everex Cloudbook is supplied with popular applications from Google, Mozilla, Skype, OpenOffice, etc.

- Gigabyte M912
- Includes a 9" rotating touch screen.

|
|
- HP 2133c
- Slick looks and well featured. Includes SUSE Linux installed on the base model, with Windows available as an option.

- HP Mini 1000
- An advance on the 2133cc (above). Includes a choice of screen sizes and a full-sized keyboard

|
|
- Lenovo S10
- Includes a 10.2" screen, a keyboard 85% the size of a regular size keyboard, ExpressCard slot (useful for a 3G modem), and Intel's Atom CPU.

- MSI Wind

- One Laptop Per Child

- Pioneer Dreambook Light
- Similar to those above, but can also run Windows Vista. Several other upmarket options also available.

- Samsung NC 10
- Lightweight, 10" screen and large-ish keyboard.

- Includes a 7" screen, a 30Gb HD, 1 Gb RAM, and gOS.
