British Schools Expel MS Vista and Office 2007

A study commissioned by the BECTA organisation has found that upgrading school systems from Windows XP to Vista and Office 2007 would increase costs and create software compatibility problems while providing little benefit. "Schools and colleges should make pupils, teachers and parents aware of the range of free-to-use products (such as office productivity suites) that are available, and how to use them", BECTA said. NSW DET ICT Fleet Management Tender

"Proposals expressing an interest for the provision of an ICT Hardware Fleet Management service - for a minimum of 200,000 PCs; 30,000 imaging devices; 10,000 interactive classroom systems (10,000 whiteboards; 10,000 projectors; 5,000 video conferencing systems and 10,000 sound systems) for the NSW Department of Education & Training (DET)."
